In June 2014, I went on a 15 day bus tour of the UK and Ireland with my mom, aunt and uncle. I only get to see my mom once or twice a year, so I was thrilled at the opportunity to spend 2 weeks hanging out with her. It was an awesome trip, and one I’ll remember for a lifetime.
On day 10 of our tour, we took the ferry from Belfast to Scotland. We drove to Edinburgh. Edinburgh was my second favorite stop, after Bath. I want to go back to Edinburgh and spend more time there, and in the rest of Scotland. I discovered on my trip there that my dad’s side of the family is Scottish. I didn’t even realize that my last name was Scottish.
Our first night in Edinburgh, we went to a traditional Scottish dinner/dance show. The show itself was only ok, though the food was good. Of course, I tried some haggis, which was actually not terrible.
The second day, we toured Edinburgh Castle and wandered the Royal Mile. I climbed to the top of the Scott Monument, 287 steps. The view from the top was beautiful. We also toured the Brittania, the royal ship.
