The main building of the Bishop Museum in Honolulu kind of looks like something out of a scary ghost story. This is the place to come to learn about Hawaiian and Pacific Islander history. There is also a very nice planetarium.

WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW: The cafe at the museum is closed (Feb. 2015). You’ll either have to leave the museum for lunch (they offer free re-entry) or bring your own lunch and a blanket. There’s a large lawn where you can have a picnic lunch.
The main museum has 3 open levels containing a huge collection of Hawaiian artifacts.
The Science Adventure Center has several interactive exhibits, including a large volcano and wave pool.
